Common Problem
We all know that the phenomenon of magnetic bias blowing often occurs when welding workpieces with heavy walls, large lengths, and strong magnetic fields, and this phenomenon will directly lead to stress concentration in the weld and reduce the bearing capacity of the welded structure. And shorten the service life, and even cause brittle fracture.
So what is the cause of magnetic bias blowing? The most fundamental reason is that during DC arc welding, due to the electromagnetic force in the welding circuit, the arc plasma in these magnetic fields is deflected by the Lorentz force of the magnetic field, resulting in the magnetic deflection of the arc.
How to eliminate the magnetic bias blowing phenomenon? In fact, there are many ways to solve the magnetic bias blowing. Among them, the AC welding process is one of the more common methods. The AC welding process can deheat the workpiece to above the Curie temperature without being affected by the workpiece and the welding magnetic field during operation. Then, it is cooled in a non-magnetic environment for demagnetization and the like. For example, considering that the workpiece is too large, on-site working conditions, etc., it will be difficult to operate, then we can consider degaussing or magnetic shielding of the part of the large workpiece.
Here, I recommend the electromagnetic induction heating equipment produced by POLARIS-ETeK, which can effectively locally eliminate or shield the static magnetic field in the ferromagnetic material on the workpiece, thereby reducing the occurrence of magnetic bias blowing. Moreover, the operation process of the electromagnetic induction heating equipment is simple, and can be combined with pre-welding preheating and interlayer heat preservation, and can realize in-situ hydrogen elimination after welding.
